Training TopicConducting Polymer Soft Actuator : Advaced materialProcessing
Executive SummaryConducting polymer soft actuators exhibit a unique mode of operation that mimics the behavior of natural muscles. These actuators are constructed from thin films, making them lightweight and compact. They can also be powered using lower voltages. One potential application for these actuators is in micropumps, which are used to move small volumes of liquids at microflow rates and have broad applications. In particular, transdermal drug delivery systems have gained attention in recent years for their potential to deliver antimicrobial and antiviral agents. Using conducting polymer soft actuators in micropumps could provide an effective means of generating the necessary driving force for these drug delivery systems.
